Registration Information

The VSUP/VsSCL Student Leadership Conference will be held from 9 am – 3 pm on Thursday, November 16, 2017, at The Holiday Inn (1901 Emmet Street), Charlottesville, Virginia.


The Student Leadership Conference is ONLY open to teams of participants from VSUP/VaSCL High Schools.

If you are not sure whether or not your school division is a member of VSUP/VaSCL, please check the Directory of VSUP/VaSCL member divisions.

Each high school is permitted to register THREE-FIVE student participants.

If your school chooses to give a five minute formal presentation during the Share Fair Assembly, your school will be allowed to register an additional TWO student participants (providing an email address and phone number for each) who will be in charge of your school’s presentation (for a total of no more than SEVEN students on your school’s team).

Fees & Cancellation

As a benefit of membership in VSUP/VaSCL, there is NO CHARGE for participation in the Student Leadership Conference.

However, registered high schools are required to give NOTICE of cancellation by THURSDAY, November 9, 2017, if they are not able to attend.

Registered high schools which do NOT give notice of cancellation at least one week in advance will be charged $200.

Faculty Advisors

Each high school is required to have one Faculty Advisor.  Each school can also bring one additional Faculty Advisor (not required).

Share Fair Assembly

Schools have the option of choosing to give a five minute formal presentation about some program, activity, or event at their school to an audience of 200 participants during the conference.  The presentation should focus on a specific aspect of their school which students are particularly proud of and which they believe students from other schools would want to learn more about. 

Schools which commit to preparing a presentation will be required to submit their completed proposed presentation by Friday, October 20.  The twelve best proposals will be selected to be presented during the Share Fair Assembly.

On the registration form, schools which choose to COMMIT to being presenters at the Share Fair Assembly will be asked to provide a brief (50-100 word) description of the TOPIC of their presentation. 

Schools which take on this extra responsibility of preparing a presentation (which could be one of the twelve selected to be delivered at the Share Fair Assembly) will be given the option of registering TWO additional student participants who will be in charge of the presentation.  (An email address and phone number will need to be provided for each Presentation Planner). 

Therefore, schools which COMMIT to giving a presentation at the Share Fair Assembly are allowed to register a total of up to SEVEN students on their SLC team.   

Senior Facilitators

Seniors who are registered as one of the school’s team of participants are given the option of committing to serve as Student Facilitators who will help lead Small Groups and perform other duties during the Student Leadership Conference. 

If Seniors are registered as Senior Facilitators, they will be required to take on additional responsibilities throughout the day of the conference, and they will also be asked to participate, either in person or “virtually,” in a Facilitator Training Session, which will be held on Wednesday, November 15, from 5 pm – 8 pm (dinner provided) in Charlottesville, Virginia.

An email address and phone number will need to be provided for any senior who makes the commitment to serve as a Senior Facilitator.


The registration Deadline is Friday, October 13, 2017.

Please be sure to complete the registration for your school by the deadline. 

If necessary, substitutions for specific participants can be made after the school’s registration has been submitted.

If all 400 available spaces are not filled by October 13, we will notify Faculty Advisors from schools that have completed the registration that they may submit the names of additional participants (with seniors who volunteer to serve as Senior Facilitators being given first priority). 

Therefore, we will NOT be able to accommodate schools which have not submitted their team registration by October 13, 2017.

Mistakes made in filling out the registration will be highlighted.

Once you have filled out the registration completely, you will see an on-screen message thanking you for your submission.

The person (or people) whom you have designated to receive a confirmation email should see that email (with registration information included) within 24 hours.
