Steering Committee
2023-2024
Representatives from each of the member divisions serve on the Steering Committee of our Professional Development Consortium. They are appointed by the superintendent/designee. The Steering Committee, composed of school division assistant superintendents and other instructional leaders, meets three times each year.
The Steering Committee works with the Executive Director to:

Assess the professional development needs of the organization’s members and recommend professional learning opportunities to address those needs.
- Recommend VaSCL Balanced Assessment Bank work group members, review work group progress, and recommend future direction for development of the Test & Task Bank based on local assessment needs.
- Attend interactive meetings to exchange ideas and resources and share innovative programs to respond to challenges of local, state, and national initiatives. VaSCL representatives also hear from VDOE representatives and other Virginia education leaders.
- Communicate VaSCL opportunities and updates to staff in their divisions via the biweekly emails from staff.
