Representatives from each of the member divisions serve on the Steering Committee of our Professional Development Consortium. This Steering Committee, composed of school division assistant superintendents and other instructional leaders from member divisions, meets three times each year. Member divisions value greatly the chance to collaborate with colleagues in addressing key educational issues.
The Executive Director works with the Steering Committee members to assess the professional development needs of the organization’s members and to plan and coordinate workshops and conferences to address those needs. The Steering Committee also oversees the work of the VSUP/VaSCL Test & Task Bank, reviewing progress made and developing plans for the future direction of the Test & Task Bank Work Groups.
Steering Committee meetings provide an opportunity for presentations by VDOE representatives, university level faculty, and other educational leaders on topics requested by member school divisions. The meetings also provide a forum to member divisions for exchanging ideas, sharing innovative programs, and addressing the challenges of local, state, and national initiatives.
